Mix it up

One of the things I'm obsessed with is comfort sized uppers; like over-sized tees or tunics and this comes from a place of wanting to be trendy and a mild insecurity. I've always had broad shoulders and I was always encouraged to put them out on display when I was much tinier (and skinnier.) But thanks to a few medical hindrances, french fries/chips and Netflix, I am the way I am right now. I went from an inverted triangle to more of an hourglass shape complete with ass and boobs and also with a tiny hint of a food baby. My body still looks a little balanced but I always tend to look a lot bigger than I usually am because of my choice to wear clothes that are at least 2-3 sizes bigger, because I crave for comfort and relaxed fits. But one thing I make sure is while I pick a relaxed fitted upper, I'll make sure I'm wearing a fitter lower, whether it's skinny jeans or a fitted skirt to add more balance and a cute silhouette to my overall outfit.

One of the currently coveted pieces in my wardrobe is the tee I chose to wear in these pictures, which I was told is unisex. I still am vary of whether a guy would pick this tee, as it seems a little short, but I guess it would work great as a layered piece. I usually wear this one with my dark skinny jeans and a pair of combat boots but on this particular day, I was in the mood to slightly mix it up. So I choose the most fitted and feminine skirt I owned; which is this cute black peplum that was acquired from my last trip to Dubai. Since both pieces are basically a monochrome palette, I blindly paired them together. With that momentary blindness, I also managed to wear mis-matched socks, but that's nothing new. I've been doing that for years, but I usually always make sure I'm wearing the same pair or colour tone when I know my socks will be on display. But at least they both had the same print!
I managed to keep my look sporty and comfortable. As much as I wanted to throw on a pair of black pumps to elevate my ass and make my legs a wee bit longer, I settled for the white sneakers and decided to keep it casual. I was also unsure of the location - Aga Khan palace, and since this was my first visit I decided to play it cool and not overdress. While the images on the internet looked amazing, I went along with Sheehan only because she was shooting. We realized the guards were not very keen on letting us shoot in the vicinity since apparently you need to take prior permission. So we got rid of the DSLR and shot on our phones instead and instead of entering the palace, we stuck to the exteriors and shot around it. I was a little struck by the chipped walk that looked a shade of millennial pink wall and the flowers and I decided to get my images captured right here.
