Summer Favourites | Max Fashion collaboration

16.4.15

While most people groan, complain and plan their summer getaways, I feel like I'm one of the few who actually welcomes the summer with wide open arms. While the heat does get to me, the fact that I'm an April child, is what makes me partial to this sticky sweaty season. And of course there's the excuse to get new summer clothes! I always adopt the less is best motto when it comes to dressing up during this season. Layering is something I rarely do, and believe me I love my cardigans, but this is the time where I sadly put them away for a while, unless I manage to find a summer-friendly one.
My search for new summer clothes was fulfilled when I attended the Max Fashions event last month complete with a fashion show preview of their latest collection and I managed to cross quite a few things on my check list. I'm going to be travelling soon, and I absolutely needed a few newer things in my wardrobe. So I decided to compile a list of my summer favourites and things you might just need to add to your own wardrobe!

Maxi dresses have been synonymous with summers for the past 3 seasons or more. It's just a must have. Throw in a floral print and you have a winner. This floaty floral piece is one of my favourites because it's cute and pretty. Also while the almost neon-like flowers had me skeptical at first, the fact that they matched with the bougainvilleas that come out during the season had me sold!

While crop tops don't excite me as much, I loved this one as it has fringe and also because not only was it fun, but because it didn't expose as much as most crop tops do, since it's more of an in between and shorter than regular t-shirts and tank tops. But a cute piece like this with denims or even a plain old skirt looks just perfect.

My mom argued with me and said this was a tunic and not a dress. While it's not that short, I liked how it could be worn either way, as it is or with a pair of leggings. Also I absolutely believe everyone needs one quirky print this summer and it cannot get better than geometric patterns and flamingos!

A pair of pajama pants that need no explanation. I think I'll be wearing these babies all summer. From being cool travel pants, to plain old lounging around pants, this printed number can be styled in multiple ways for multiple different occasions and are the most comfortable ever. Right now it's my "before swim" pants.

What drew me to dress was the overlap cut at the bottom. The tulip shape is the prefect way to show off one's curves without going for the dreaded body con dress. This is of course a longer version and looks amazing as hell. Since it was a tube, I thought a tiny lace shrug was appropriate. I loved how the dress moved when I walked.

I've been a skorts person from my school days, and wore them to my hockey practices. There is something so badass yet so girly about playing a game with a skirt, which are actually shorts on closer inspection. While my game playing days are gone, my love for skorts has been rekindled and are an upgrade to plain old regular denim shorts. Also they make a lovely sight when the only agenda all day is to lounge around by the pool or beach for that matter.

My last favourite piece had to be something that worked during the day as well as the night. This black maxi crept into my hands and while the sensible voices in my head retorted to the whole wearing black during summers debate, my heart took control and snagged this cute number. If black is not your thing, they have a white version as well.

Floral maxi dress, fringe tank top, printed denims, flamingo printed dress, lace fringed cardigan, high waist floral trousers, asymmetrical wrap dress, lace shrug, tiered blouse, printed skorts, black maxi dress - all currently available at Max Fashions stores across the country.
