Crop It Like A Boss

5.6.14

Two words that have been severely misused this season are 'crop tops'. Wherever you go, Forever 21, Zara, H&M, or even those shopping portals you visit, all you can mostly see are crop tops! While crop tops can look chic on your favorite celebrities and on all these gorgeous skinny models, how is a regular girl supposed to wear one without looking too flashy and revealing a little too much?

Well it's already common knowledge, that the best way to wear a cropped top is with something that is high waist, whether it's a pair of trousers or denims or even skirts or shorts, so that instead of showing off your entire midriff, you show off just a teenie tiny hint, which is considered chic as compared to a little bit trashy.
I love crop tops, I'm not going to lie. I have quite a few as well. But sometimes it gets too much. It's so generic. Everyone is wearing the same thing in almost the same style, so how do I be different? How do I stand out? By adding maybe a small twist? So I chose a high waist skirt. A skirt I've been wearing since I was in the 6th or 7th grade. I am a hoarder, and I'm glad I don't get rid of all my clothes. I mean who would have thought that the midi-maxi length weird looking floral skirt I wore to my tuition and study groups would come in style about a decade later? No one!
So along with my more than a decade old skirt, I wore my over-sized crop top and I thought it was the perfect balance when it came to shapes. And that's how you really wear a crop top differently. Instead of a fitted top and a flared skirt, just switch it up!
Bonus : Striped crop top + Floral body con skirt = Print Clash win!
P.S - Its was a really sunny day, and these pictures don't do justice to my old skirt.
