The wind in my hair - Outfit post

22.8.12

This post is for my InFB Indian fusion remix..

My interpretation of something Indian is obviously the bright and bold colors! And then there's the jewelry..
Hence I chose the hottest India hues - pink and orange, and to compliment them, there's jewelry, that is all picked up from the streets of Santa Cruz and Bandra.
I usually never wear Indian clothes, even though I live in India (and my last post was a saree!) but I still dont! I have a few salwar-chudidars/patialas which never see the light of day.. Hoping that changes a bit..

Continuing with my tie-dyed obsession (I have to hurry and finish these before fall!), here is one of the ombre tunics I picked up. Yes one of them. I picked two! Both different colors obviously!

And again a lot of greenery, and colors will follow. I have been also obsessed with color. Like maybe a little too much. But color is always good right? Why live dully when you can live in technicolor?

So moving on, believe it or not, this outfit is under 1000/- from head to toe!!

There were a lot of issues with wind, my hair and the skirt.
Till we got a picture that was decent!

Orange ombre tunic - from Lifestyle (Ginger) for 199/-
Pink dress (worn as a skirt here) - from Hill Road for 150/- The cool thing about this skirt/dress is that it actually is a multi-way thing. Believe me there are more than 6 ways to wear it!
Floral wedges - from Irla for 299/-
Turquoise neckpiece - Santa Cruz station road for about 125/-
Bangles - assorted, from all over!

Being chic, trendy and stylish is never expensive! You can find the best stuff, if only you look for it! Keep your eyes open always!

I really wanted to do a complete whole other outfit post, for the InFB Indian fusion remix, but currently I'm just too tied up with work. Even my last two Sundays have been working days!

All pictures by Sheehan, my little sister. She insisted I wear yellow, to stand out against the green. However I told her, she is still in her 'Brett Lee' mode and needs to see beyond yellow and green!

Ties, dyes and a few splashes of color

12.8.12

For quite a while now, I have been obsessed with tie-dye stuff. I mean I just always have. I remember when they taught it to us when I was learning fashion and stuff, and I went crazy. We each had to make a tie-dye folder with at least 10-14 different dyeing techniques (yes there's that many!) and I begged my friends to let me do theirs too! Yep total nerd sometimes.

So anyways, one time, my sister was taught the same in school, so  told her take my folder if she wanted to, which she did, and her teacher went crazy and wanted me to come and do a small tie-dye demo-workshop thing with them (this was 3 years ago I'm guessing)

Now that you know a bit of the tie-dye connection, the rest continues. I was recently at the mall, getting absorbed into the various sales and what-nots. And here I walk into Lifestyles and I spot all these crazy tie dye and dip dye ombre tunics for 199 each! It was unbelievable that I bought one of each.

With the sudden burst of rains, the area outside my house got extra green and mossy, which looked pretty good. So it became the backdrop the clothes I wore.

Mossi-ness and even a feather on the left hand side!

I experimented with layering two different tie-dye pieces with both very different colors, both the dye and the base.

I'm totally in love with the mossi-ness

I bought these shoes a long time ago for a fashion show to match my garment. The model's foot size was 40 (same as mine) and I picked a 40 obviously. But as you know, most stores here stock up with Bangkok stuff, so sizes run smaller. Hence for the model's comfort, I cut open the behind and made it like a small tie-up, of course with help from a cobbler!

The next time I wear the pink one, it's definitely going to be something funky, like with a bikini bra or something.

Pink ruffled tie-dye t-back - Lifestyle (Its actually a Large size, that's why it's 'hanging' on me. But because I couldn't find anything smaller, and I just loved it too much to let it go!)
Red tie-dye tube - Lifestyle
Purple neck piece - borrowed
Black hand cuff - Bangkok
Purple hand cuff - Blur
Purple shoes - Belly footwear

Wendell Vs Anthony

10.8.12

At the recent fashion week, Wendell Rodricks had his niece Tegan, who was also a show-stopper walk down the runway wearing this..

Not only did the outfit seem a little blah for a show-stopper (compared to the other nicer pretty coloured pieces), but it also was very very 'inspired'

Anthony Vaccarello Spring 2012

Besides a slightly different upper half, the rest of it seems to be the same..

Sheer-Ocracy

1.8.12

When In-FB, decided to have a sheer remix, I was so overjoyed, because I have so many sheer things, from tunics to dresses and other random stuff.. I pulled all of them out and wondered, what to use, and with what..

And after all that dilemma, and a million 'Is this okay' to my mum and sister, I finally realized what could be better than a saree?

So here it is, me, in my Indian avatar!

This is why I don't wear sarees a lot. My tattoo gets me weird looks from aunties!
Yes it says 'Music is my life'. It totally is..

Too filmy?

I realized without flash, pictures turned up a lot better..

Blogger pose :-P

My dad's phone charger made it in my pictures!

Indian baubles..

I totally asked my mom if this was okay to put online, and she approved.

The lovely photographer, my little sister Sheehan. She doesn't like kisses clearly!
